TRIGGER WARNINGS

I've written a lot of books and sometimes backstory is stream of consciousness and I basically forget what I wrote 15 minutes after I write it. I have a brain that’s as porous as a sponge with a fraction of the retention. Sometimes I don't realize a thing can be deeply upsetting. Or I mix up books because it was 2018 and a lot of things were happening in my life.

I'm not supposed to admit stuff like that. But here we are.

The point of this little opening salvo is that you still may come across something triggering that wasn't listed here. If that happens, I am truly sorry. Write me at christine@cdreiss.com to tell me what it is. Yell at me if you must. I can take it. I'll get this list updated lickety split.

If you come across something you think may trigger someone else that wasn't listed here…send me that email.

The best way to find the book you're looking for is to search the web page. On a Mac that's command+F.

THE SUBMISSION SERIES

ONE NIGHT WITH HIM
ONE YEAR WITH HIM
ONE LIFE WITH HIM
COLLECTION

Also, Complete Submission, Submission, Domination, Connection, Collection

BDSM. H has history of self-harm. Death/suicide of friend. Miscarriage. Heart transplant. Manipulation. Emotional abuse (ex-boyfriend)

THE CORRUPTION SERIES

ROGUE/RUIN/RULE

Lots of violence. Smoking. More violence.

FORBIDDEN

KICK/USE/BREAK

For the whole series: Drugs. Rape (it is presented as violence and not eroticized). BDSM. Car accident. An F/f scene.

BROKEN SOULS

SECRET SINS/SACRED SINS

She's young. Too young. As young as I was IRL, but things are different now. There was math involved and I think if I could construct it again, I would figure out a way to not write her this young. Anyway. There's drugs and smoking and gambling. A threesome. DP. Unwanted pregnancy. Parental violence.

PRETTY SCARS

Murder. Spousal abuse. Infidelity.

IRON CROWNE

Self-harm. Drowning. Spanking. Poetry.

CROWNE OF LIES

Really bad “BDSM” experience described from the past which she did not consent to. Obv that's not BDSM in the truest sense, but her ex-boyfriend was not a subtle man. In my mind, he's dead and she's happy.

CROWNE RULES

Hero was underage when he had a long relationship with a married woman. Spanking. D/s. Office/workplace role play.

FAKE CROWNE

Anxiety, therapy, light arson, pot-smoking, fear of failure, fear of success, broken dreams. A Black man talking honestly to his white friend about his biases.

CROWNE JEWEL

War in Ukraine. Parental abuse. Strangling in the past, not on page. Scars. Role-play sex involving a police officer. Rough sex. Outdoor sex. Degradation. Slut, whore talk, also good girl and praise.

LEAD ME BACK

Sexual harassment at work. Sexual assault interrupted by the hero.

ONLY EVER YOU

Nothing I can think of. For real. He's a virgin. IDK if that's a bad thing for someone.

BOMBSHELL

Dyslexic hero. A 5YO girl’s mother died, which is traumatic. Someone on GR said there's emotional violence (one star!) but I'm not sure what they're talking about.

BODYGUARD

Abusive ex-boyfriend who shows up later. Hero’s sister was stalked and murdered.

STAR-CROSSED

She has a dark past with dubious consent. Revenge porn. Circulation of uncomfortably sexual photos of her when she was an early teen.

HARDBALL

Hero has ADHD. He thinks of being with another woman while they're separated but resists. Some people think that's still too much and I respect that. Here's your warning.

KING OF CODE

Nothing I can think of. Just a weird book with a love letter written in Javascript.

PRINCE CHARMING

Past-tense harm to an animal.

WHITE KNIGHT

Nothing I can think of. Poverty, I guess.

MARRIAGE GAMES / SEPARATION GAMES

Blackmail. Hero’s ex is present. BDSM. Consensual non-consent. Death of a loved parent.

THE DILUSTRO ARRANGEMENT

MAFIA BRIDE
MAFIA KING
MAFIA QUEEN

Age gap. Kidnapping. He manhandles her. Violence. Torture. Smoking. Murder. He's a dick for a bunch of the first book.

MANHATTAN MAFIA

TAKE ME
MAKE ME
BREAK ME

Kidnapping. He manhandles her without consent. Violence. Torture. Smoking. Parental abuse. Parental death. Cruelty. Murder. (Yes, there is something wrong with me) Fake rape (they're both in on it) mutilation, lying, desperation.

BLOOD BRIDE

This is a Mafia Vampire series. So generally, you can expect guns, violence, blood play.

Spanking. Emotional control. Captivity. Careless talk of murder. Psychological and physical abuse of a child (FMC – in the past) and the return of the abusive parent.

One of the vampires is 500 years old, but has the appearance of a 14YO boy. He does things a man does, and though he does not have sex in this book, it is implied that he has done so.

ANIMALS: Bird caught in a snare. Nothing else happens to an animal in this book, but if this kind of thing upsets you, you may want to skip this one. There will be more books in the series, and there's a pretty good chance of something with animals you won't like. I am sorry. They're vampires.

Most of this book takes place in Naples, Italy. Other locations include the California desert, New York City, and Fez, Morocco. IDK why I felt the need to tell you that.

THE EDGE SERIES

GIRL ON THE EDGE

ROUGH EDGE
ON THE EDGE
BROKEN EDGE
OVER THE EDGE

Let’s just talk for a minute.

I know someone who loves dark romance…the darker the better.

She couldn’t handle this series not because of what happened, but because of how it was shown. This is valid, so here’s your heads-up.

For parts of this book, we are in the hero’s POV as his mind breaks apart. He alternates between manipulation with a side of emotional cruelty and a deeply satisfying sadism. When he’s in either state, he makes no excuses or apologies. He’s at war with himself. His wife’s body is the battlefield so…the fact that she likes it notwithstanding…it can be hard for some to read.

That said, also look out for parental abuse, falling from heights, sexual assault, the Iraq war, surgery, rough sex, and other medical and military stuff.
