The New York Times best seller.

There are a few unbreakable rules in the game.

Stay collected. Compartmentalize. Think your next move through.

Never let your heart dictate your tactics.

Can I give this book 100 stars??

WARNING!!!! This review is going to be filled with OMG, LOVED, and !!!!

When I finished book one of this duet I liked it a lot but was annoyed by the cliffhanger but that's just a love hate relationship I have with Cliffy's. So when book 2 came out yesterday on audible I grabbed it immediately cause I needed to see where this story was going. And OMG I didn't even sleep until it was over!! This book was amazing!

If you've read the Songs of Submission series then you know just how great this author is but The Marriage Duet literally put her into a whole new range for me. Her writing is excellent, the story was incredible and the sex scenes were SO hot that your ears will almost melt when you listen to it!! Everything about this was really just that good!

This book picks up right where Marriage Games left off (thank god)! Adam is such a complicated character, he is dominant in the absolutely BEST way and he is also cautious and loves his wife completely. Diana thought she knew her husband but little did she know there was a whole other side of him, once she see's Dominant Adam, she falls in love all over again. Together these two are trying to find balance. Always questioning, Are they better off without each other? This book takes us through their 30 day agreement with all the good and bad and brings us out different readers on the other end, or it did for me at least! If I thought I knew what I wanted in this story, I was wrong. I couldn't have even imagined it would end so perfectly how I needed it too!

This is my first Favorited book of 2017! And Adam has just pushed Jonathan off the pedestal I put him on ;)

THIS IS A MUST READ DUET!!!

Tiresome, Juvenile and Exhausting

It was hard to believe these two were adults with successful business careers. The incessant games and the back and forth, I think I got whiplash. These two didn't seem to know the meaning of love -- they only loved each other when they behaved a certain way. I really liked the first book, Marriage Games but this one, not as much. Normally, I really like stories by CD Reiss and so far this is my least favorite. Much of the nonsense and inner turmoil of this book should have been eliminated and added the meat of this book to the first book. I was so sick of Diana and Adam about half way through, I didn't care whether stayed together or not.

The narration is amazing and it certainly gave more interest to this book than I would have given it otherwise.

The duet is worth one credit, not two.

Worst story ever.

The female character was the most infuriating, ignorant, indecisive, childish, selfish heroine I've ever read. I suffered through this antagonizing back and forth, ridiculously long story, only because I paid for it and hate to waste money. BDSM can be done without glorifying rape. This book was a total waste of time and money. The only good thing about it was the skill of the narrator. I won't be purchasing anything else by this author.

A satisfying end

I very much enjoyed listening to Separation Games. The only thing that could make this audio book better would be more Sebastian York because he is awesome.

This duet should have been one book.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No. So much of Diana's internal thoughts could have been eliminated as they were repeated in her dialog with Adam or in her actions. During Diana's portion of the book, I really felt like I wasted a credit.

If I heard of a friend that really wanted to start this series, I would recommend that she start in the middle of the book. The first half was a waste of time.

What could CD Reiss have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Make this duet one book. It really felt like the author milked the story to make it into two books, therefore getting more $$ from the customer.

Did Elena Wolfe and Sebastian York do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Both Elena and Sebastian did an outstanding job. Sebastian's performance saved the series for me.

Was Separation Games worth the listening time?

No. This is the problem with series going over one book. I'm thankful I started Marriage Games, shortly before Separation Games was available. I didn't have to wait long for the 2nd part of the series.

Profoundly Moving and Scorching HOT!!!

From the very first Audible book (BEG, TEASE, SUBMIT-SEQUENCE ONE:SONGS OF SUBMISSION BOOK 1) by CD Reiss that I listened to, I developed a genuine Girl Crush on her. Her brilliance comes out in every word she writes and she passes that intelligence on to her characters and the stories she creates for them. Yes the books are HOT and the sex can be RAW and ROUGH, but there is always an underlying Love, Trust and Adoration between the characters. CD Reiss writes SMART KINK!! Her Audible books always have a Pride Of Place in my library.
I recently came across a quote by Colette Werden:
It’s OK if you fall down and lose your SPARK. Just make sure that when you get back up, you rise as the whole damn FIRE.
In MARRIAGE GAMES, Diana and Adam Steinbeck’s seemingly perfect five year marriage falls apart. She feels there’s something missing and he’s been hiding a dominant part of who he is. They lost their SPARK.
In SEPARATION GAMES, Diana has found the SPARK that Adam ignited in her and she manages to convince him that together they can burn the whole f*#king world down with their FIRE. Two people who can’t keep their hands and minds off each other stripping their emotions bare to reveal who they really are …. Made for each other.
Elena Wolfe and Sebastian York are brilliant giving voice to her words and my Girl Crush on CD Reiss has grown exponentially. ♥♥

Not good

I think Diana was not a good character. I just do not like her.
I think they should never get back together let him move on to someone else better for him.

ehh

This series is the first of CD Reiss's. And maybe the last. I couldn't wait for the end of both books. I was hoping second book would be better. It wasn't. Mind you I like erotica, romance and mystery. This definitely had the erotic scenes. But the romance and mystery not so much. Adam and Diane were trying to save their marriage any way they could. Narration is PERFECT!

Amazing! One of the best narrations experiences.

Completely worth the expectation, the wait and the hype. Separation Games delivers beyond what a reader expects from having read the first book. It's a story that is so well constructed and thought after, but the beauty is in the interpretation and the narration that gives life to the words and make you see clearly and feel all of the emotions that CD Reiss has purposely set out for her readers to experience. I am beyond grateful that I have found this author and that she knows how to tug on the mental and emotional core of her readers with such beauty, truth and realism. Both narrators were just superb, as always, but Elena Wolfe completely killed it!! Her narration of the final chapter in Diane's POV was just BEYOND!! Goosebump worthy!! Bravo!!!

Breaking Her Body and Spirit

In book 1 of this misogynistic series, Adam bullied his young, naïve wife Diana into accepting sadistic violence as a normal feature of marriage. Rather than adoring and cherishing poor pathetic Diana, Adam battered and bruised her body, insulted her intelligence and crushed her spirit. What a prince!

Evidently Adam was unaware that, at least in America, marriage is supposed to a loving partnership, not an inhumane form of slavery. And evidently, Diana had no self confidence or respect, since she "consented" to emotional and sexual abuse rather than insist on being treated as a valuable human being.

I was hopeful that in book 2, Diana would realize that she deserved a man who would love and appreciate her unique personality. Sadly, the author appears to believe that women are second class citizens, without basic civil or human rights and that having a "cock" entitles men to torture and humiliate anyone smaller and weaker.

Hot and steamy are not synonymous with aggressive and cruel; erotic does not equate to violence and truly passionate & satisfying sex never, never, never involves intentionally inflicting emotional or physical pain.

I found this disturbing novel extremely sad and depressing, not romantic or entertaining. Eventually Diana would end up dead or seriously injured, at which time Adam would blithely find a new victim to bully.
